What is play therapy?

Play therapy allows children to communicate in a way more natural to them: through play. As children are learning and growing, they will process their experiences organically in acting them out and projecting their experiences onto objects.

With the presence of an attuned play therapist practitioner, play therapy services can prevent or resolve psychosocial challenges.

Benefits of play therapy

Play therapy offers numerous benefits, including enhanced emotional expression, improved social skills, increased self-esteem, and the development of coping mechanisms for children. It helps individuals process emotions, build relationships, and develop skills through symbolic and pretend play.

How do the sessions work?

The first step is to have a consultation between the parents and the play therapy practitioner. Following the consultation, the child will meet with the play therapy practitioner for30 or 50 minute sessions. The play therapist will introduce the space and assess if play therapy services are a good fit for the child.

Following this assessment over the course of the first few sessions, the practitioner will check in with the parents and will continue to have ongoing consultations with them every few sessions or so.
